Hi! My name is Holly and I am the sole owner and designer of Peach Nine Design. Eight years ago I was laid off due to outsourcing. I worked at NCR as an Account Billing Manager and Team Leader of the Development and Recognition Team. Although, I often thought about what it would be like if I owned my own business, I always assumed I would retire from NCR. My department being outsourced to India and being laid off was devastating. We really had no warning, we were told that our department was not a good candidate for outsourcing, but several months later, it happened anyway. Needless to say, I am not fond of the corporate world or the shady characters in it. :)
After NCR, I immediately starting buying clothes wholesale and selling them on eBay. It was ok for a while, but that particular category was very flooded on eBay, so it was difficult, and only got worse. I've always been crafty, so when I found out I was pregnant with a girl I started to make hairbows for her, and eventually started selling them. I sold them on eBay and on my own website. During the first year my site was open, I went to the library and got a book on web design so I could design and decorate my site any way that I wanted. I seriously taught myself web design in 3 days. It came very naturally to me.
I did very well making and selling hair bows. I had to recruit my family to help. My sister started helping almost full time. She ended up getting a cyst in her wrist from the repetetive movement, so she had to stop, and it all became so overwhelming that I was breaking down in tears atleast once a week. I couldn't keep up with the demand and my heart just wasn't in it anymore. But, I still loved dressing up my website. Which is when I started designing websites. So, here I am almost 6 years later!
I am currently a mother of 3 cutie pies, married to an awesome guy, I'm in school full time (AGAIN) for Software Development and Management Technology. I'm super crafty, so if I ever have any spare time (hardly ever), you'll find me making something cool with felt or paper...or anything else I can get my hands on to decorate or modify!
